MAISON
MARYJANE
SEO Strategy · Content Production · France
Six months of SEO work for a premium French CBD brand. From a minimal search presence in December 2025 to 946 weekly clicks, a 6.9% CTR, and multiple position one rankings across France.
The Engagement
Nov 2025
to May 2026.
Maison MaryJane is a premium French CBD brand with 7 boutiques across northern France. When VHS Digital came on board in November 2025, the site had a domain rating of zero, 33 broken pages, 805 blocked URLs, and no meaningful search presence.
Six months later the site ranks number one for high-intent buying queries across multiple French cities, weekly clicks have grown 175%, impressions are up 154%, average position has improved by nearly 4 positions, and the site is generating an estimated 3,400 clicks per month from search alone.
CBD and hemp brands operate in one of the most restricted categories in digital marketing. Google Ads, Meta Ads, and most paid channels are either unavailable or heavily limited for this industry. Organic SEO is not just a strategy in this space. It is the only scalable channel available. Ranking well in this space requires more precision, more patience, and a deeper understanding of how to build authority without the shortcuts other industries rely on. Every click we generated came from earned visibility, not paid placement.
What We Did
Fixed 33 broken pages, resolved 805 blocked URLs, cleaned up 250 pages linking to dead content, and submitted a full site recrawl.
20 SEO articles per month across three pillars: product education, location optimisation, and lifestyle content. Each article targeted a specific keyword cluster that the site was not yet ranking for.
Refreshed product page titles, H1/H2s, meta descriptions, alt text, and URLs across priority pages to align with target keyword clusters.
Referring domains grew from 22 to 54 over the engagement period, nearly doubling the site's backlink authority.
The Content Strategy
Content that
earns its rank.
The SEO content strategy for Maison MaryJane was built around three pillars. Each one served a different role in growing organic visibility and every article published directly added new keyword positions to the site.
Articles explaining the difference between product types, how to use them, what to look for, and why quality matters. This type of content targets people at the research stage and positions Maison MaryJane as the trusted authority in the French CBD space. Google rewards sites that demonstrate genuine expertise and product knowledge, and this content directly builds that signal.
City-specific content built around the locations where Maison MaryJane has boutiques. Calais, Saint-Omer, and Pertuis each received dedicated articles targeting local search queries. When someone in Calais searches for a CBD shop nearby, Google needs a relevant local page to serve them. This content created that connection between each physical location and its surrounding search audience.
Content targeting people who are ready to buy. Search queries like "livraison rapide CBD" and "CBD en ligne" have strong commercial intent. By publishing articles that directly address these queries, we placed Maison MaryJane at the exact moment a potential customer is making a purchase decision. This content drove the majority of click growth and contributed directly to the site reaching position one for multiple high-intent terms.
Publishing 20 articles per month created a compounding effect. Each new piece of content added fresh keyword signals to the site. Google crawled more pages, found more relevant content, and began associating Maison MaryJane with a broader range of searches. Organic keywords grew from approximately 40 to 150 over the engagement period. That growth is a direct reflection of how consistently the content calendar was executed.
6 Month Comparison
The numbers
don't lie.
November 2025 to May 2026. Every core SEO metric moved in the right direction.
Weekly clicks grew from 344 to 946 since December 2025. Monthly run rate sits at approximately 3,400 clicks and is still trending upward. Growth driven entirely by organic content and technical fixes, zero paid ads.
From approximately 21,000 monthly impressions in December 2025 to 46,900 by May 2026. The site is now surfacing in nearly 47,000 searches every month across France.
A 6.9% CTR means nearly 7 in every 100 people who see the site in search results click through. Industry average is 2 to 5%. This signals strong brand recognition and well-optimized titles and meta descriptions.
From 26 referring domains to 54. Nearly doubled. More websites linking to the site means stronger authority in Google's eyes and better rankings over time.
Average position improved from 11.1 to 7.3 over the engagement. Moving from the bottom of page one toward the top directly correlates with higher click rates.
Started at zero share of voice in the French CBD search market. Now capturing 4.8% of total search attention against established competitors. No paid ads. Pure earned visibility.

The Takeaway
What six months
can do.
Maison MaryJane came to VHS Digital with a site that Google could barely see. No domain authority, broken infrastructure, and zero share of voice in a competitive market. Six months of consistent SEO work changed that completely.
Organic SEO can compete in restricted industries where paid advertising is not available. Every result here came from earned visibility.
Consistent content volume compounds over time. 20 articles per month sounds simple. The keyword growth from 40 to 150 is what that looks like in practice.
Technical fixes matter before content. Cleaning up 33 broken pages and 805 blocked URLs first meant every article we published after was actually being seen by Google.
Local search is an underutilised growth channel for multi-location brands. Ranking in the cities where you have physical stores drives both online orders and foot traffic.
SEO is a long game but it is the most durable growth channel a brand can invest in. Unlike paid ads, rankings do not disappear when the budget runs out. The work compounds.
VHS Digital builds SEO strategies from the ground up. We start with a full technical audit, define the content pillars that will drive the most relevant traffic, and execute consistently over time. Whether you are a single-location business or a multi-city brand, we build a strategy that scales with you.
